Bit-Deco is a little term I eventually thought of to describe what has become the dominant styles whenever I make a web site (90% of them going nowhere), and for when I draw.
While admittedly being a fan of art-deco (specifically the Bruce Timm genius that is dark-deco; Batman: TAS...), the name is a bit of a misnomer, as any art-deco influence, so far, is unintentional.
I do use a few concepts found in art-deco, though: minimalism, bold colors, & geometric (simplistic) shapes, being the specifics. I don't intend this to be something signifigant, mind you. I'm just bored .-.
YOU: "The kid in the helmet..."
ME: "Yes... just look at him." ~
Not forgetting the prefix, I use 'bit' since most of my original graphics that I do originate in barebones paint programs (I am *not* a master of Photoshop, by any means). So often, they'll be composed of pixels (obviously), and look very simplistic, in line with old school video games of the 8 & 16 bit era(s).
Finally, I thought giving, what I think my style is, a name, would help motivate me to do more drawing/art thingies. A bit selfish, yes, but harmless. This page will host stuff that I make under the banner of bit-deco, while possibly being a reservoir of the images I use on poppychop.net. Although in most cases, they'll look a little "bit" different!
